New Earswick Falcons took on Redcar in Division 2 of the over 55’s league, At home Barry Harrison, Dave Kermode, John Harrison & Eric Cookson led A Crossman’s rink 5 ~ 2 after seven ends but then dropped a five a four & a couple of two’s over the next eight ends to go 13 ~ 17 behind, they fought back well with the last six ends all being singles & with Falcons winning five of them to claim an18 all draw.
Jim Spicer, Dave Counter, Graham Lockwood & Barry Johnson won the first three ends to lead G. Russell 6 ~ 0 & had increased the lead to 13 ~ 4 after ten ends, The Redcar rink had the better of second half of the game allowing the Falcons only four shots while they picked up eleven shots the Falcons hanging for a 17 ~ 15 win.
Over at Redcar Vic Thompson, Alwyn Anderson, Bob Barrett & Dick Osguthorpe started well winning the first two ends to lead T. Richardson 5 ~ 0 but then lost six of the next seven ends dropping a seven a five & a three to go 6 ~ 18 behind they fought back well wining five of the next six ends to pull the score back to 17 ~ 19 but again lost the next five ends dropping another eleven shots on the way to a 19 ~ 30 defeat.
Bill Nuckey, Rod Walker, Brian Birch & Mick Head got off to a slow start & were 2 ~ 8 down after seven ends but they won five of the next six ends & despite dropping a five at the eleventh led 15 ~ 13 after fourteen ends and were 21 ~ 16 up with two ends to play but the Redcar rink scored a two & a three for a 21 all draw.
